Helensburgh’s new ‘zero waste shop’ opened for business on Saturday morning – and the shop’s manager says she’s delighted at the response so far from local shoppers.
The new facility, at Cube Life in East Clyde Street, is located within one of a number of small shipping containers at the site.
Manager Rhiannon May (pictured above, right, with colleague Zoe Canty) said: “It was a huge hit – we were thrilled at the response from local shoppers, and some who were not so local.
“Lots of people were enthusiastic about zero waste shopping and were super-happy to see this is now available in the town.”

The shop sells eco-friendly cleaning and beauty products, cloths and wraps, reuseable coffee cups and water bottles, along with rice, pasta, beans and pulses – and more is expected to follow soon.
“People asked us for quite a few things on Saturday,” Rhiannon added, “and we’ll be adding them as and when we can.”
The shop’s regular opening hours have yet to be finalised, but Rhiannon said the aim is still to be open five days a week, including weekends.
