POLICE in Helensburgh say they are confident of tracing those responsible for allegedly assaulting two visitors to Helensburgh in an unprovoked attack in the town centre at the weekend.
Officers received a call around 11pm on Saturday, August 24, reporting an incident in James Street.
Two male victims, aged 50 and 53, were allegedly assaulted by three men near to the junction with West Clyde Street.

Both men are said to have sustained minor injuries in the incident, and to have declined offers of medical assistance.
Statements were taken from the victims, both of whom were from England, along with a witness to the unprovoked attack.
Police say they are now reviewing CCTV footage from on-street cameras in the area, as well as from private businesses nearby.

Area inspector Roddy MacNeill told the Advertiser: “The enquiry is at an early stage but police are confident that the males responsible will be identified and charged.
“Anyone who witnessed this unprovoked attack on two visitors to the area is asked to contact the police at Helensburgh, or call 101.”
