THE question of where the food we eat comes from has never been higher in people’s minds...and was amply demonstrated at a recent event at Geilston Garden in Cardross.

The ‘Plant It, Grow It, Eat It’ event taught fascinated visitors of all ages about planting seeds and watching them grow into delicious vegetables – and how you can do it in your own garden and at home.

Alison Farrell, manager of Geilston Garden with the National Trust for Scotland, said: “This was a great event as people came to see the garden but also enjoyed learning all about planting seeds and watching them grow into something else.

“It was interesting to hear people’s views on planting and what they use their gardens for at home.

“We got great feedback from local people about this event, and in particular children loved to hear exactly where their vegetables come from, instead of simply thinking they come from Tesco.

“It is always great to see the garden alive with so many people.”
