TALENTED photographers in Helensburgh and the surrounding area are being urged to visit Geilston Garden in Cardross and take some beautiful pictures for possible inclusion in the Friends of Geilston's 2020 calendar.

With little more than a month to go before the entry deadline, the Friends are hoping to whip up more support both for their photo competition and for the garden itself while it's still dressed in all its summer finery.

The competition deadline is midnight on Sunday, September 8, and the best dozen contributions will appear on the Friends’ calendar for next year – while there are prizes of £25, £15 and £10 for the top three photos.

The calendar, and the competition that goes with it, are part of the Friends' efforts to raise the profile of Geilston in the face of ongoing uncertainty over the attraction's future.

Trustees from the National Trust for Scotland, which owns the garden and Geilston House, are expected to meet this summer to consider a report on the garden's future viability.

In the meantime, if you have a keen eye for a good photo, you can enter up to three photos taken at Geilston, in landscape format only, and with a suitable caption.

All entries must have a file size of at least 1MB, and entries can be emailed to fogphotos2020@gmail.com.
