HELENSBURGH'S lifeboat crew has been called out to a report of a capsized dinghy in Kilcreggan Bay.
The lifeboat was launched at 3.36pm on Thursday, July 11 following a request from the UK Coastguard, and began a search of the area at 3.55pm.
A Royal Navy warship which was also in the area reported a red and white object further round the peninsula towards Barons Point, but on investigation this proved to be a red and white painted rock.
READ MORE: Helensburgh RNLI crew in double rescue dramaThe lifeboat continued to carry out a search until 4.46pm, when it was stood down by the Coastguard, nbothing having been found in the area.
Keith Shipman, volunteer press officer at the RNLI's Helensburgh lifeboat station, said: "This is being treated as a false alarm with good intent."
