A RECORD sum was raised for Save the Children at the annual afternoon tea organised by the charity's Helensburgh branch.
This year is the charity’s centenary, and 90 ladies came along to Helensburgh Sailing Club to enjoy a traditional afternoon tea and to listen to TV sports presenter, and former Cardross Primary and Hermitage Academy pupil, Hazel Irvine share some of her broadcasting memories.
Many gave generous contributions to not one but two raffles – including a special raffle with donations from local artist Sofia Perina Miller, the Lodge on Loch Lomond, Tweedie, and the Scandinavian Shop – and helped to raise a total of £1,355.70 for the charity’s work.
