PAMPERED pooches young and old, little and large were on display at the recent Rhu and Shandon gala day.
Pet owners brought along their four-legged friends for the fun family event held on Saturday, June 8 as more than 100 entrants showed off their delightful dogs.
The dog show is a popular feature of the annual occasion and proved a particular highlight of this year’s event.
Rosettes, a goodie bag of dog treats for all entrants and bags of dog food for the first placed winners were generously donated by Helensburgh Pet Shop, who once again sponsored the event.

Rosettes were awarded to sixth place in all classes, special rosettes were also given out.
The winner of Best in Show - which this year was Mara the Greyhound and human Lori Henderson - also received the Craig Birss Memorial Trophy to keep for a year.
The judge this year was Miss Rhian Feasby of Dumbarton who was judging a show for the first time.
Organisers praised Rhian’s efforts and were delighted with the success of the day.

A spokeswoman for the event said: “Rhian has been showing dogs since she was a little girl and has competed successfully at Scottish Young Handler and Crufts many times.
“She did a superb job and many commented on her professional and friendly manner.
“She thanked the gala for the opportunity to judge her first show, which she had enjoyed enormously though she had found it difficult to choose winners from all the lovely dogs.
“We will be keeping an eye out for her judging at Crufts in the future!
“The gala would like to thank Fiona Baker, Anne Foy, Seonag Bates, Monica Hutton and Alison Sheen for organising and running the event and of course Helensburgh Pet Shop for their ongoing sponsorship of an event that is one of the highlights of the gala.”

The gala has been a firm fixture of the area’s events calendar for 21 years.
Other activities on the day included family races, birds of prey, dance and martial arts demonstrations, a wide array of stalls and a keenly-contested tug-o-war.
King and queen Lewis Fell and Ella Taylor, prince Saul Rodgers and princess Lucy Barton led the parade as this year’s Gala Royal Family.
