IT'S now 10 years since big-hearted Helensburgh man Paul Tyson took part in a fund-raising cycle for the Marie Curie Cancer Charity.
Here's how we reported the story on May 21, 2009...

A HELENSBURGH man is planning to take part in a cycle ride from London to Geneva to raise funds for the Marie Curie Cancer Charity.
Paul Tyson, 23, whose father Mark runs the Royal Bar in Helensburgh, has already managed to raise nearly £3,000 but around half of that will go to pay for his 988-kilometre journey and he would like to raise a whole lot more for the charity.
Paul, who is a personal fitness trainer working at Bannatyne’s in Edinburgh, has chosen to take part in the marathon cycle as a way of saying thank you for the care his father has received since being diagnosed with cancer.
He said: “My dad has gone through many operations and is recovering well.
“As a token of my appreciation to all the help that he has received I have decided to do a bicycle ride from London to Geneva in June in aid of Marie Curie.”
Paul’s family home is in Craigendoran Avenue and he used to play for Helensburgh Rugby Club.
