MEMBERS of a Helensburgh community choir celebrated all things Easter last week at a fun-filled party in the town’s parish church.
The Local Vocals group held their Easter-themed extravaganza on Tuesday, April 16, featuring home-baked delights including cupcakes and chocolate sweeties, as well as a craft competition to design the best bonnet decorated in Easter style.
Susan Browne was the lucky winner with her inspired flowery creation.
Local Vocals is a dementia friendly community choir run in partnership by 1000 Voices and Alzheimer Scotland.
Alison Gildea, from 1000 Voices, praised the efforts of the volunteers who helped organise the event, including volunteer musician and musical director, Marjory Barrington.
Alison said: “The event was extremely well attended by friends and family of the choir and members of the public, members of Visiting Friends, Grey Matters and Alzheimer Scotland.
“We had visitors from Dunoon attend as they are looking at setting up a similar community choir.
“Our two young helpers, Ethan and Fraser, handed out Easter sweets and cards which Fraser designed.
“We were delighted to see so many people attend. It was a fantastic afternoon and the choir sang beautifully.
“Thank you to Marjory for all her hard work and to all the volunteers who helped out on the day.”
The Local Vocals group meets on Tuesday’s at 1.30pm in Helensburgh Parish Church – new members are always welcome.
