THE fabulous Easter weather helped to show Geilston Gardens at their spring best – and plenty of visitors enjoyed the attraction.
A record number of Easter visitors came to the garden over the weekend, and more than 500 children followed the Easter Bunny’s trail around the gardens, identified insects beautifully drawn at various locations by award-winning artist Caitlin Hegney, and were rewarded with a chocolate egg.
Painted logs by Caitlin will remain in the garden so that they can be enjoyed even though the bunny and eggs have left.

A spokesperson for the Friends of Geilston said: “It was a delight to see so many out enjoying the garden. Even the numbers did not detract from the tranquil atmosphere which is the hallmark of the gardens – except at the Hobbits Hole play area, which was fun, active and certainly not tranquil!”
There are lots more interesting activities coming up in the gardens, including a guided bird walk on May 8 and a guided butterfly and bug walk on May 15. Full details of these and all forthcoming events can be found at nts.org.uk/visit/places/geilston-garden.
