AN ICONIC Helensburgh building has undergone a facelift.
The Logie Baird pub in James Street has been repainted for the first time in over a decade to give the Art Deco facade a fresh look.
The 106-year-old premises has changed hands a number of times in the last five years and had fallen into disrepair.
When Cara and Milan Nikolic took it over two years ago they were determined to restore the C-listed building which first opened as the La Scala cinema in 1913.

Cara said: “We were very limited in what we could do because it’s a listed building and even the colours had to tie in with the Art Deco style.
“We chose shades of blue and teal and are delighted with how the original architecture and features popped.
“It was looking very tired and shabby before and we were determined something had to be done with it.
“It’s a big building to look after and we’ve had to do a lot, from repairs to the roof, to the electrics and over the winter we repainted the interior and laid new carpets.
“There is always something to do when you’re looking after a listed building like this but we’re really pleased with how this facelift turned out and hope the town likes it too.”
Milan said to mark the fresh look they had launched a new homemade menu.
He added: “Our new menu is based around our charcoal grill and smoker and people have said it’s amazing.
“We’ve been extremely busy since the school holidays started. It’s great to see the place with a buzz about it.”

The La Scala was one of three picture houses in Helensburgh and was the last one to close in 1984 after showing films for 70 years.
It went on to become an amusement arcade and later a snooker hall before closing in the 1990s.
The building’s iconic features were recognised in 1993 when La Scala was named as a C-Listed premises by Historic Scotland.
It opened as the Logie Baird in 2007 after an £800,000 renovation by UK pub chain Barracuda but was closed by administrators in November 2013 due to lack of business.
Cara and Milan also run multi-award winning La Barca Tapas Bar, Padrone Pizzeria and Cattle and Creel seafood and steakhouse in the town.
