HELENSBURGH Community Council has sounded a note of caution over objections to the planned new care home next to Hermitage Park.
The community council’s members were brought up to date on the concerns over the proposal for the former Argyll and Bute Council depot site at their monthly meeting on March 28.

But Nigel Millar, who deals with planning matters for HCC, said the community council had conducted a public survey in 2015, when Argyll and Bute announced plans for a new roads depot at Blackhill, and had found that people’s “number one priority” then was for residential or care home accommodation.
Mr Millar said: “The community council would now have to have a very good reason to say we do not want a care home on this site.”

Mr Millar also said drawings submitted by the applicant, Simply UK Ltd, with the proposals did not make clear the shape or scale of the planned new building, or the impact it would have on neighbouring properties.
“To say ‘you have to make up your minds based on this’ is an insult to the community council and the residents,” he added.
