A MAN carrying an axe in a Helensburgh street was arrested last week after allegedly being involved in a disturbance at a nearby address.
Police received a call shortly after 7am on Thursday, March 14 reporting that a male was walking along Suffolk Street carrying the implement.
After the man allegedly failed to respond to an instruction to drop the weapon, officers drew their CS spray and a baton and the man eventually dropped the axe and was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon.
A further enquiry confirmed that the man had been responsible for causing a disturbance at a nearby address.
The male was identified as a 31-year-old from Suffolk Street and he was taken to Clydebank police station, before appearing at Dumbarton sheriff court the following day.
