A RAPIST filmed himself attacking a five-year-old girl at a house in Helensburgh, a court has heard.
William Rigby preyed on the child while he was apparently baby-sitting her in the town while the girl’s mum went out to dinner last October.
The youngster told her mum what happened when she returned home.
Rigby claimed the girl was “misunderstood” – but the 53-year-old, also of Helensburgh, now faces a possible life sentence after he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting and raping the child.

At the High Court in Glasgow on Wednesday, Rigby was remanded in custody pending sentencing in June.
The attack on the five-year-old occurred on October 11 last year while the girl’s mum was out.
The court was told that when she got home around midnight, her daughter was still awake, and Rigby was standing behind her.
The girl soon began to cry and stated: “I don’t want to get into trouble.”
The mum went on to confront Rigby over what had happened.
He soon left the house after stating to the woman: “I am sorry if she misunderstood what happened.”
Rigby, however, was later held by police.
Officers seized his mobile phone and a series of sick video clips of him with the girl were found.

Prosecutor Margaret Barron told the court this included him raping the child, who was in her pyjamas at the time.
At one point, Rigby, also of Helensburgh, had got the girl to say “hello” to the camera.
A further 34 indecent images of children were also discovered.
Rigby, the court heard, later told police that he should be “punished” for what happened.
A probe then revealed he had preyed on two others girls between 2006 and 2018.
One was aged four when the abuse began, while the other was six.

Rigby insisted with one of the victims he had acted on “impulse”.
He admitted charges of indecent and sexual assault in connection with those girls.
Miss Barron told the hearing she was moving for a full risk assessment to be carried out on Rigby.
This could lead to him being hit with an order for lifelong restriction.
Lady Stacey deferred sentence in the case for the risk assessment to be carried out.
