THE first ‘Messy Church’ session of the new year was enjoyed by children and parents alike at the United Reformed Church (URC) on Saturday.
The monthly event, which has been organised by volunteers at St Michael’s Church, Helensburgh Parish Church and the URC for the past eight years, offers free crafts, snacks and activities for children up to the age of 11.
And, judging by these photos, it was certainly a fun day for all as even Reverend Mitchell Bunting got involved in the day’s entertainment, performing stories and songs throughout the morning.
Church volunteer Elizabeth Lambert, who helped organise the event, said: “All of the children were very keen and excited and they enjoyed making things in the craft activities.
“They really enjoy food craft in particular, as they like making things they can eat!
“We’re looking for more people to come along as it’s free and we enjoy running it.
“You don’t have to be a church member or Christian.
“Hopefully we can get more people, if they’re looking for something to do on a Saturday morning, especially when it’s raining like it was at the weekend.”
