A COVE man who was charged with assaulting two men, one of them to severe injury and permanent disfigurement, has walked free from court.
Dylan Garden, of Hamlet Hill, Cove, was alleged to have committed the offence on February 18, 2018, at Woodend, Barbour Road, Kilcreggan.
But the 20-year-old was found not guilty on both charges by a jury following a two day trial last week at Dumbarton Sheriff Court
The Crown accused Mr Garden of entering the property uninvited and attacked a man living there by repeatedly punching him on the head and body and repeatedly kicking him on the legs, knocking him to the floor.
The charge also alleged that the victim suffered severe injury, permanent disfigurement and impairment.
Mr Garden was then said to have assaulted another man living at the same property by repeatedly punching him on the head and body and knocking him to the ground.
Defence lawyer Kenny McGowan lodged a special defence of self defence on behalf of his client, which the jury accepted.
After the jury returned their majority not guilty verdicts, following just over an hour of deliberation, Sheriff William Gallacher told Garden he was free to go.
