HELENSBURGH Theatre Arts’ latest pantomime production left audiences desperate for more, and organisers are already looking ahead to next year’s showpiece.
A favourite feature in the town’s festive events calendar, this year’s Jock and the Beanstalk show thrilled visitors to the Victoria Halls between December 6 and 8.
The panto told the story of Jock and his mum, Dame Senga, being evicted by traditional villain Queen Domm.
And of course, the panto wouldn’t have been complete without Hodem and Dodem.
Hundreds of people came to the four performances of the panto, by Derek Bannon, with predominantly young audiences who enjoyed joining in, particularly with the ‘behind you’ gags and the audience song.
Alison Holliman, chairperson of Helensburgh Theatre Arts, said: “The young cast worked extremely hard in the weeks leading up to the show and enjoyed performing to such appreciative audiences.
“The director, Louise Press, was particularly pleased with all the actors and both the chorus and the junior chorus, some of whom were appearing on stage for the first time.
“All the actors are very keen to come back next year when, fingers crossed, we will be performing another new pantomime written especially for Helensburgh Theatre Arts.”
