A GROUP of former submariners will descend on Helensburgh next month for their fifth annual fund raising visit to the town.
The ‘Buddies in Boats’ group, with members from all over the UK, will be in town from November 9-11 – and they are appealing for donations of raffle prizes to help them in their bid to raise more money for local good causes.
Since 2014 the group has donated nearly £18,000 to good causes in Helensburgh and in the Yorkshire town of Bridlington, with groups including the Gareloch Riding for the Disabled Association, Helensburgh Sea Cadets, the town’s RNLI branch and Boys’ Brigade company, and the Helensburgh Clan Colquhoun Pipe Band among the recipients of their generosity.
Anyone who would like to donate a small raffle prize to help the group’s efforts is being asked to drop it off at the Ashton Bar in West Princes Street, mentioning ‘Buddies in Boats’ while doing so.
