A Helensburgh woman has organised a fund-raising raising effort in aid of Action For Children
Riana Jones, a former pupil at Hermitage Academy, is planning to raise the cash by donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust, and by asking people to give her their old clothes and shoes for her to donate to Cash For Clothes.
"I have been staying at one of Action for Children's projects since April and they have offered me a lot of support these past few months," she said. "I just wanted to give something back to them. There's a lot of kids needing support out there."
The 19-year-old has set herself the goal of raising £200 for the charity and the biggest personal challenge will be donating her beloved hair.
She told the Advertiser: "I had been thinking about fund-raising for a while, so this is it going into action.
"I chose to donate my hair because it means a lot to me. People always say 'oh your hair is so nice'.
"That's the thing that's keeping me going, that it will grow back. It's a big part of me and that's why I'm doing it but I'm nervous. I think that makes it better and hopefully other people will get that from it."
