THE main street along Helensburgh's seafront could be reopened next month, according to the leader of Argyll and Bute Council.
East Clyde Street has been shut since the end of May because of concerns over an unsafe building.
But in a Facebook post on Monday, council leader Aileen Morton said five weeks of work were expected to begin this week.
Cllr Morton said in her post: "The council’s building standards team have now taken the decision to instruct further works at the dangerous building that has resulted in East Clyde Street being closed.
"Work is expected to begin this Wednesday (15th August) to make safe and watertight the gable of the property.
"This will take approximately five weeks to complete and at that point the road and footpath should be re-opened.
"The costs will initially be met by the council but the owners will then be billed once the work is complete."
