TWO anti-Trident protesters have been released from custody in connection with their alleged role in a blockade of the road to the Coulport weapons depot.
Brian Quail, 79, from Hyndland in Glasgow, and 66-year-old Angie Zelter were allowed to go free after a hearing at Dumbarton JP Court on Wednesday at which the Crown dropped a request for a special bail condition barring the pair from going within 100 metres of Coulport and Faslane.
The pair were arrested and charged with breach of the peace on July 12, and were remanded in custody the following day after refusing to agree to the special bail condition.
Ms Zelter, from Knighton in Wales, appealed against the decision to remand her in custody at a hearing at the Sheriff Appeal Court in Edinburgh on Wednesday, but her appeal was refused by Sheriff Norman McFadyen.
Both Mr Quail and Ms Zelter continue to deny the charges against them; they will stand trial next month.
