GRASS cutting is to be reinstated at three cemeteries in the Helensburgh and Lomond area after councillors agreed to re-think the impact of controversial spending cuts.
The cemeteries in Cardross, Rhu and Tarbet are among 22 locations around the area where grass cutting will resume when the new financial year begins in April.
No additional money will be spent on grass-cutting in the area in 2017-18 – but in the wake of anger from community groups and local residents, Argyll and Bute Council has agreed to reintroduce cutting at several sites which were removed from the authority's work programme in 2016-17.
The locations in Helensburgh and Lomond where grass-cutting will resume in 2017-18 are as follows: Cardross Churchyard; Cardross shoreline (50 per cent of plot 1); Cardross War Memorial; Williamson Drive, Helensburgh (plot 2); Kirkmichael (50 per cent of plot 5); Rossdhu East, Helensburgh (plot 1); Rossdhu West (plot 3); Lower Feorlin Way, Garelochhead (plots 28, 32 and 51); Rhu Lower (plots 24, 31 and 32); Rhu Churchyard; Argyll Road, Rosneath (plot 32); Luss (plot 18); Tarbet Cemetery; Skating Pond, Helensburgh; and Clyde Arran, Helensburgh (plots 14, 20, 51 and 63).
