THORNTON — KATHRYN (nee GROGAN). Sadly passed away, at Bolton Hospice on Tuesday 25th October 2016, after a long illness. Katie was the daughter of Edwin and Margaret Grogan (Peggie Tran), much loved wife of Lister and devoted mother of Alice.

I was looking back at the people who I trained with as a teacher in Didsbury- and came across this very sad news, which was difficult to grasp. Although I haven't seen Katie for 20 years she left a lasting impression as a human being and she was a great friend to me during my student days, introducing me to the disc world and Terry Pratchett - amongst other books. Her intellect and talent were second to none. I can only imagine what a great teacher and mum she must have become and my thoughts are with her family. x
