The organisers of a clothing sale are delighted that they were able to raise almost £1,000 for their campaign to restore a church tower.

Held at Rhu and Shandon Parish Church, locals came along to browse and buy items during a Nearly New Clothes Sale on Saturday, April 20.

Helensburgh Advertiser:

The money raised is going towards the Rhu and Shandon Church Tower Fund which has raised a total of £30,000 so far.

Organiser Gay Black said: “These clothes sales are normally held twice a year in the Church Hall and over the years have raised more than £50,000.

Helensburgh Advertiser:

“The one held last Saturday was very busy and raised over £900, but more will come in as one of our ladies has taken some of the clothes to sell on Vinted.

“We need to raise £50,000 and so far have managed to get £30,000, which is brilliant but there's still quite a way to go!

Helensburgh Advertiser:

“Watch this space for more of our fundraising events which hopefully will include a bridge afternoon and a race night.”

A ceilidh held on the same night raised over £2,000 for the fund.
