A memorial commemorating Helensburgh’s navy personnel and their families could be built within the town.
A representative from the Royal Navy has approached the Helensburgh Community Council to pitch the idea and gather their support.
The topic was discussed at the community council’s last meeting on Thursday, April 25 and received overwhelming support from members.
One community councillor said: “I have thought for quite a long while that the town should have something that acknowledges the people in the Royal Navy.”
It is not known what form the memorial will take and further discussions will take place in the future.
