MEMBERS of the public will get their chance next week to share views on plans for a major expansion of accommodation for military personnel at HMNB Clyde.

Outline proposals for 639 'single accommodation units' at Faslane have been lodged with Argyll and Bute Council - and will go on show in Garelochhead on April 26.

The 'proposal of application notice' has been lodged with the local authority by CRGP Ltd of Glasgow, on behalf of the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO).

The outline plans also include associated parking provision.

All of the proposed work would take place within the boundary of the naval base.

No detailed designs have yet been revealed alongside the formal notice.

Two consultation events are being planned at Centre 81 in Garelochhead.

The first will take place at the community venue in School Road on Friday, April 26 between 1.30pm and 8pm.

The second will be held on Friday, May 17, also from 1.30-8pm.

The PAN and associated documents can be viewed on Argyll and Bute's planning portal by visiting publicaccess.argyll-bute.gov.uk and searching for the reference number 24/00580/PAN.
