A man's body was discovered in the water close to the Kilcreggan shore on Tuesday morning.
The discovery was made at around 11am after emergency services attended the scene.
The body is believed to be that of a white male - no further details have been provided at this stage.
Helensburgh's RNLI Lifeboat team, together with HM Coastguard, assisted with the recovery of the body that was on the shore water line.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Just after 11am this morning, Tuesday, March 24, the body of a man was found in the water just off Shore Road, near to Kilcreggan.
"Enquiries are underway to establish the identity of the man and the circumstances surrounding the death.
"The procurator fiscal will be informed."
