SCOTLAND'S National Rhododendron Show will be held in the Gibson Hall Garelochhead this Saturday.
Exhibitors, who come from across Scotland and the north of England have been anxiously watching the weather over the last couple of weeks as one night of frost can severely damage the early flowers.
The West of Scotland is widely recognised as the ideal place to grow Rhododendrons, and there are literally hundreds of species and thousands of hybrids to choose from.
One way to see these wonderful flowers in all their diversity is to come to the Scottish Rhododendron Societies annual Show, which returns to Garelochhead after a successful event last year.
There are over 50 classes for species and hybrids from the largest to the smallest, and for those new to exhibiting there is a novice section.
The show is open to all, there is no entrance fee for exhibitors and vases are provided.
Local gardeners are particularly encouraged to bring along their blooms.
Help and advice on staging cut trusses will be available from committee members. There is also a photographic exhibition.
The full show schedule and be found on the societies website www.scottishrhododendronsociety.org . Just follow the link to the pdf version.
The Hall will be open for exhibitors from 3.30pm to 7pm tomorrow and from 8am to 10am on Saturday. Judging starts at 10am
The Show is open to the public at 12noon.
There will be plants for sale - not just rhododendrons and tea, coffee, light snacks and home bakes will be available.
